A Multicriteria Goal Programming Model for Ranking Universities

This paper proposes the use of a goal programming model for objective ranking universities. methodology has been successfully used in other areas to analyze performance firms by focusing on two opposite approaches: (a) one favouring those variables that are aligned with central tendency majority measurement performance, and (b) an alternative favours different, singular, or independent variables. Our results compared proposed popular World University Rankings, some insightful differences outlined. We show how top-performing universities occupy best positions regardless approach followed model, hence confirming their leadership. In addition, our proposal allows quantification importance each variable universities, which could be great interest decision-makers.
